- I am Master's student. Can I apply for the Amgen Scholars Program?
NO. This program is meant for students who are enrolled in an undergraduate program.
- I am enrolled in an undergraduate program in a University located in Australia. Can I apply for the Amgen Scholars Program?
NO. You must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in a college/university located in one of the Asian countries.
- Can I apply for Amgen Scholars Program hosted by other Institutions (Eg. NUS) in addition to IIIT Hyderabad?
YES. You can apply to multiple programs. Note that each host has their own requirements, eligibility conditions, focus areas of research and application process. However, if you have been a Amgen Scholars Program in the past hosted by any of the other Institutions, you are not eligible.
- Are there any requirements in terms of the discipline (subjects) the applicant has chosen in their undergraduate curriculum?
NO. However, at least one mathematics course should have been taken (see Eligibility for more details).
- I will be graduating in May 2025. Am I eligible to apply for this program?
NO. You should have completed at least one year in the undergraduate program, and should go back to the home Institution for at least one semester/quarter after the end of this program.
- I am a citizen of Germany, and I am enrolled in an undergraduate program in a University in China. Am I eligible?
YES. You may be a citizen of any country, but you should be enrolled in an Institution located in one of the Asian countries.
- Is it a full-time program?
YES. This is an intensive research program and the you should be available full-time in-person throughout the duration of the program, and you should be available to travel to Tokyo for the Asian Symposium (see Important Dates in the main page). You are prohibited from taking any other job or pursue any course during this time.
- Can I send my application and/or supporting documents via email?
NO. Please carefully prepare everything ready and submit the application online once. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Can I submit required supporting documents or optional information after the application is submitted and/or after the deadline?
NO. All documents need to be submitted along with the original submission.
- My university does not provide official transcripts in English. How should I apply?
You should submit the original transcript along with its translation verified by the appropriate office in your University.
- I am not a native English speaker. Am I eligible to apply?
YES. However, you are supposed to submit relevant documents to support your English proficiency (see Eligibility for more details).
- Is there a minimum CGPA criteria to be eligible for applying for this program?
NO. There is no such requirement. CGPA is one of the criteria used for screening and selection of applications. Other criteria include recommendation letters, statement of purpose, academic background and interest in the focus areas.
- How do I submit the reference letters and who should send the letters?
Please send the link to the online form to the referees and request them to complete the form & upload the letter. You may request your teachers/mentors from your University who may personally know you and comment on your academic performance, research experience and other credentials.
- What is statement of purpose?
The statement of purpose may be used to showcase your motivation, interest and commitment in research. This can also be used to show your expertise in computer programming, interest in learning AI methods, and the application areas.
- How do know if my application is successful?
We will send emails to the selected applicants on March 15, 2026. Please avoid sending emails to inquire about the status of application.
- What kind of financial support is provided for the Amgen scholars?
Transportation (flight tickets), accommodation and about 90% of the meals are provided.
- May I choose the duration of the Amgen Scholar Program according to my schedule?
NO. You must arrive on June 7, 2026 and the program begins for the whole cohort on June 8, 2026.
- Is prior research experience necessary to make an application?
NO. However, it may help your case. Do give details during the process of application.
